Combibos Open Mic Night

It's been a long time coming but we finally had our first Open Mic Night at Combibos! The whole day was full of anticipation and worry about the acts and what the turn out would be. The result was good on both accounts. The shows started at 7 but at 6:45 more than half the shop was empty. Not long after 7, we were packed. I was off at 7 (lucky me). So I grabbed a coffee and a front row seat to watch my co-workers and friends sing!

Franice was the organizer for the event. A recent addition to the Combibos staff, she is from the States and is here studing for her Masters. She's been singing and performing since she was 8 years old. She writes and performs her own songs. Could I be more jealous!? She was so much fun to watch.

Next was Pavel, a local Community Police Officer and a regular (like most of his co-workers) at Combibos. He played some Blues and Country guitar, so fast in fact, that my poor little digital camera couldn't keep up! The video skips a bit.

After that, Laila (another Combibos member) invited her Art teacher in to play. He was one of the few of our people who have recorded and album. I just need to get his name....

Then Laila and Christy played. Writing and performing their own songs, there is something so sweet about a young couple writing and palying together. Aw bless.

Next were a few "off the street" kind of folks. Friends of friends, etc. Including Vincent singing The Who's Pinball Wizard and Caz playing an acustic version of House of Pain Jump Around! Hillarious!

Last but not least was another Combibos member Nathan. He put down the coffee for a minute and played a cover and did an amazing jam with Pavel.

Over all it was a wonderful night and I am looking forward to next week! Hope you all enjoy the pics and vids!

55 days till were HOME FOR CHRISTMAS!!
